Last night, Edison and I attended the Second Grade Parent Meeting for Edward's First Reconciliation. I was very excited as to what we will discuss in preparation for Edward's First Sacraments: Reconciliation and Communion!
At the end of the meeting, we were sent home with the following prayer: May tomorrow's sunrise mark the beginning of a new birth for us as parents called by God to be His messages on earth. Amen.
Every year since my 27th Birthday, I would reflect on what area in my life that I needed to work on until my next birthday (God's Work in Progress, October 2007). I kicked off my 30s by putting my spiritual growth into practice: Citizenship & Community Service (At Your Service, Lord! October 2008). I have been praying for the Lord to lead me to my next assignment: "Lord, what is it that I need to work on this year?"
I have always taken my role as a mother very seriously: On the one hand, I cannot be more honored than being hand-picked by GOD to bear and rear these little miracles, who are the images of GOD Himself! On the other, how terrifying is it to know that I will not do Him justice if I mess this all up? How difficult and overwhelming is it as I realize that real and actual destinies are in my hands? (Hand-picked by God, September 2007)
As mothers, we have the most noble calling of creating a home enviroment that is a fountain of joy for our husband and children. The world may be dark in sin, but if we can create a haven where our family can come home to - for refuge, for security, for love - we might just be able to save that part of the world that matters the most: our home, our family - the basic unit of society. (The Proverbs 31 Woman: Hope to a Fallen World, January 2008)
So, last night's closing prayer was God's message that couldn't have been any more clearer than if it fell from the sky and hit me in the head: a new birth for us as parents called by God to be His messages on earth.
Marriage & Family Life: What better way to be of service to God, to my community, to the world and time that I will not see than to be of service to my family - my most noble calling indeed!
Dear Lord, Thank You for my husband, who has always been the quiet, stable strength that our family needs.... for our parents, our brothers, and sister, our family and friends, who have been our amazing support system throughout my husband's and my journey as parents... for Holy Angels School, the most perfect partner in education that we could ask for.
