"A new commandment I give you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." (John 13:34-35)
One thing that stuck with me from our company's Western Regional Meeting was an advice from a seasoned agent to the brand new ones: "Represent your brand well."
Year after year, our company has received the highest financial strength ratings from independent rating services, and has been in Fortune's Most Admired Companies for the last quarter of a century. It would be a shame for new agents to tarnish the "squeaky clean" image that our company has worked so hard to maintain.
Sadly, when I reflect upon us Christians, I couldn't help but wonder how Jesus would react if He sees His followers now. "Have you been faithful to My commandment? Do all men know that you are My disciples? Does your love for one another show them that You are?" I imagine Him asking us.
Have we represented our brand well?
I look at myself and I don't even know where to begin to criticize. If we are expected to be the best representatives of our companies, how much more should we be put to higher standards for representing the Alpha and the Omega?
Oh, I am sure that I have failed to deliver in more ways than one. But I realize that that is exactly what the Passion of Jesus was for: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
These are the gifts that I will take away from this Lenten season: The gift of knowing that I am saved; the gift of God's mercy and compassion; and the gift of being with the One who "makes all things new." May these be the gifts that you take away as well, so that our Easter will be as blessed and joyous as ever!
Dear Lord, Thank You for all Your gifts that make me feel so loved! Bless all parents that we may be as loving and forgiving to our children, as You are to us. Bless all of us, disciples of Your Son, that we may represent our Master well. Amen.
