Edward picked this Bible passage from one of their books, so he can put it on the Family Shield that we were asked to prepare for his First Communion. From the beginning of this school year, the Second Grade families have been preparing for this momentous occasion in our children's lives: their First Communion when they will experience Jesus in a brand new way.

I cannot emphasize enough how very thankful we are to have Holy Angels School as our partner in education. We are truly blessed to have such a great support system! The educational and spiritual meetings, the Family Shield Project, and the work books have all been a part of our wonderful journey. A journey that was culminated by a beautiful and unforgettable ceremony, I couldn't help but become emotional.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all our family and friends, who have been faithful to our family throughout the years. You are the reason why we know God is real.
We want to share with you our First Communion Letter to him, that you may continue to keep him in your prayers... Edward, whose heart is as gentle as his love for God's creatures; and whose heart is as strong as his dream of giving joy to less fortunate children:
Dear Edward,
"Nothing is so strong as gentleness, nothing as gentle as real strength." (St. Francis de Sales)
You have been blessed with a heart so gentle and strong. Use it to serve God and others.
We are so proud of you, son - for the angel of God that you are in our lives... and for the mighty warrior of God that you are destined to be for the world.
Enjoy your walk with our Lord Jesus Christ. Be sure that you have quiet time everyday to hear the Shepherd's voice. Follow Him, who lives in your heart.
We love you, Edward, and we are always here for you!
Love,
Daddy & Mommy

Dear Lord, Bless us as Edward's parents to be Your instruments in leading him to the right path. Continue to bless our family and friends, for they are Your instruments of wisdom, strength, and love to our family. Amen.
